We have moved!!!

Thanks to our wonderful customers the past three years, we have been able to convince our bank that we deserve (and can afford) a better location and new store.  So Westfield here we come!

Just 10 miles south, but right on a freeway interchange in front of 10,000 vehicles a day, we have broken ground for our new dealership.  Here are photos of progress to date, with more to come as the building goes up.  I think we will have the only camping trailer store in the world housed in a Geodesic Dome.  Now this will be fun!

The building is finished!  Come see the new store!

   This is it!  Noon Saturday, March 4  Five half-hex's and a pentagon yet to go.  Progress pictures below.

                    1-17-06  The dome triangles are being fabricated in a shop just 2 miles north of my present location.  There will be 69 triangles in all, making three half-hexagons, five full hexagons and six pentagons.  The triangles will be combined at my new lot, into the larger shapes, and lifted into place with a big crane.  That will be a fun day!!  More pictures then.

  Wednesday March 1, the basic shapes are being assembled.  Geodesic domes are built of triangles of two sizes, that are joined into half-hexagons, full hexagons and pentagons.  There sub-assemblies are then erected into the dome shell.

             The first half-hex is lifted into place at about 9  AM Friday morning, March 3.  Friday ends with all the foundation pieces in place.  There are two gaps in the first row of structure for the store entrance, and the overhead garage door.  Temporary braces hold the sections until the next row of pieces can bridge the gaps.

            At the end of work on Saturday, March 4, the top is starting to close in as additional shapes are lifted and bolted into position.  It was a beautiful winter day for building a dome!  It is too bad the weather man predicts snow on Sunday, because that will make Monday's work slow and nasty.

        Monday morning finds a completed shell.  The crew worked all day in the snow to finish up.  From the outside, it looks kind of small, but inside it is huge!  The peak is a pentagon, and the hexagonal skylight will crown the front door.  The builder is now framing in the two remaining openings for the entrance and garage doors.

The bathroom is being roughed in, the well casing is being hammered in and the pump is installed.  The shop entrance is framed in and shingling has begun.  The month of April has seen real progress.

The Month of September, the walls are getting taped and mudded, and they are being painted. 

Still the month of September, the sky is done and the wood trim is being done.

The month of November and the building is complete!
